Need advice, free software to fix Mom's computer please

www.lavasoft.com this is a great adware program, get the free home edition.

also search google for the software called malwarebytes. Its a great program that found 2 virus's that "windows live one care" didnt pick up on my computer. It will be a full functioning TRIAL for 14 days though, but at least u can remove all the stuff while using the trial.

don't know if this will help or not, but there's totally free antivirus.... avg free I just got my system and downloaded it today.... free, easy to set up, updates every day, and it does not drag down my system

Carey- when I went to the lavasoft page, tried to sign up for free, it says I must subscribe to one of there offers, magazines, credit report.com etc. etc. or at the top "no thanks, I'd rather pay" Well, I'd rather PLAY!!!

lou- I went to google and searched malwarebyte, like Carey and you suggested. I downloaded. I had 2365 detections. But--- to get rid of them it's not offering a trial?????

I'm really ignorant about these things. I'm gonna uninstall for now. Could you possibily link me up??

Hey lou- it's gotta be me. Your link worked fine, the original scan with gazillions of detections came up. I hit clean up and the I believe the download came up, but I saw no option for the free trial.

One or two more days, until I can work it out- won't kill us. I am soo challenged DUH!!

no problem w/ the help , when download came up did u download / if you dont it wont be free. And i think the first scan i did for viruses took like 4 hours.But once your computers clean scan only takes like 10 minutes.

also when you download the malaware bytes. change the name to something different like Liz's cleaner or somethiing because some viruses like Vundo are programmed to recognize the names of anti-viruses and it makes it by pass the virus and say there isn't one there, by changing the name you "trick" the virus so to speak

Liz..maybe it was used once before on the computer?? If you had downloaded once and the trial expired then everytime you download it will show as being expired. Its in the registry.
