I am 65 years old and have never been to a land based casino...sad isn't it? I have lead such a busy life I have never really had a real vacation even. Poor me....I hear the violins now..lol.

I was thrilled when they started internet casinos!! It is one of my few indulgences (that and chocolate candy...yum).

I would love to read about your experiences at land based casinos.Please enlighten me just in case someday I find myself inside of one.

OH MY... Vegas stories.. I would burn your ears with some of mine. A couple yrs break from Nevada, but I spent a Good Solid 10 yrs. gambling from the age of 21! My grandmother was a gambler, my MoM was a SCARY big slot player and had top comp. status, EVERYTHING was free. From the BEST booze, limo pick-up, show tix. V.I.P. enough to cover 3 rooms at once!! This was at Lady Luck downtown, the hotel was really nice and the casino was big enough. One trip my MoM and I flew from L.A. got the ride and off to our room. I was playing B.J. and the dealer invited me for a drink after shift. Ok, we go to 4 queens. Have a cpl. drinks a few hands of cards. Goodnight. The next day I see him. He almost lost his job. His boss said "DON'T EVER TAKE A HIGHROLLER OUT OF HERE" or your gone! They knew who I was with and they marked, (counted) my play as well.

I have some pretty wild, outta control stories! I had a big chunk of money in my 20's so life was a PARTY!! I could write chapters and I have to laugh thinking back!! I'll drop one now and again, if ya want. I sit here with a devilish, cheeky grin just thinkin about some of the antic's we got up to!!

Oh and I heard stories about OLD vegas. from dealers, friends who'd been around since the early 70's and witnessed stuff that was straight out of a made for t.v. movie!! ( ever hear about the Binnions?) The Mint and The Horseshoe.. I may have to post a cpl. of stories that I got first hand. Vegas wasn't a family vacation spot back then!!!

Damn them!!! I miss my old stomping grouds. I LIVE 45 min. from Disneyland, thank you!

More than a cpl. friends have told me I've packed in a few life times in this one. I think I've always had a sense of urgency. Or maybe It's just the addict and who I am! Naw, I wouldn't have all the wonderful people and love alone, left to my own devices!

Never been to vegas , 1 day. Have played at a ton of riverboat, land based casinos though, e-where in missouri, a few in kansas, louisiana. Personally i have way better luck in these casinos , than the internet. I just have 1 rule soon as i double my money get the hell out of there. Cas i went on my b-day im not a high roller took a $100- $150 went in won $200 in 6 minutes and left. But i have luxury most dont it takes me 5 minutes to get to the boat.

We don't have so many casinos here in Aus, but we have lots of venues with slot machines - called pokies (poker machines) for short. They are at every hotel just about, and RSL's (Clubs for returned soldiers are in most suburbs).

Back in the late 80's I went to Vegas, and cas if you ever get the chance go there, it was an absolutely fantastic place, not just the gambling, but the whole atmosphere, it is like one big party. Daytime the place is so drab, it is such a contrast, everything seemed to be just grey, but come night it is a different story, the lights are just fascinating. My ex hubby ran around the whole place taking photos at night, listening to music and checking out all the hotels, I just dragged around with my cup of coins from hotel to hotel

Yeah theres 4 of them buy my house the farthest one takes me maybe 20 minutes , so at least its a little variety. I know some people dont have them or have 2 drive for hours and hours, i prob. would like the internet a whole lot better. This is kind of off topic but 1 of the casinos would send me 4 -$15 free vouchers a month , no strings. So its so close i would just walk in cash it out and leave, im a tight wad, but hey they paid for my cell phone bill for four months straight. I love free i bet if you lived in vegas the vouchers and comps. are unreal . With so much conpetition.

If I can avoid the county mounties and ignore the speed limit I can make it to the boat in one hour.... takes Beaches 20 minutes longer lol - but I was in outside sales and the car only knows one speed on the highway....

Vegas is like nothing else... We used to go twice a year - until I had my daughter - and now well life is different.... so I get my fixes online and in person at the boat a few times a year.

I LOVE the landbased casinos. I have not really won a jackpot yet though and I have been going for years and years. The best I ever did was a Royal Flush on the poker machine for $1000. I just love the whole ambiance of it, the lights , the sounds, the excitement, And of course being a VIP member I get free rooms, free foods and special treatment! Maybe one day I will hit the big one!​

If you ever want to visit a land based casino at least once in your life, go to Las Vegas and/or Monte Carlo.

Why? Because they got the best stuffs! Luxurious and glamorous!

Hey lou- the comps. and vouches USED to be attainable. For the last 10 years, with all the compataion, it's done just the reverse. In order to qualify for lowest level comps, you have to spend tons. Wanna talk fruits to nuts comps- almost outta reach. INCREDIBLEY HIGH amounts have to be spent to get a room comp or a nice meal... Like I told a floor man in Reno once, yrs. ago. I was on a GOLDEN run at B.J. Killer! They comped my room for the night. I said my friend and I could use a meal. To him and the other floor-man I said- "AND I DON'T DO COFFEE SHOP or BUFFETS!! They pissed themselves. Thought she's a trip!! one said to the other- "she doesn't do coffee shop- Or buffets!!!" LoL LoL- I said WHAT!


If you made it to Vegas in the 80's or 90's- it was still hip... Last time I cried. They turned it into disneyland! I don't wanna step over kids, I don't want your light shows, I wanna gamble.PERIOD. Usually chasing my money so stay the fu... outta my way. And just cause I have a stack, or anyone has a stack, you never know how much they're STUCK for.. And I've been "Stuck and Steamin" more times than winning.
Just like most gamblers. Unless you hit, take the money and run.. Ya, we hear about those all the time... NOT!

I knew a dealer who was banking 2-3 GRANDa night in tokes/tips!! 2 K was a decent night!! Crazy huh??!!!

But, when so many came to Vegas, (trickly down affect) the money's spread thinner. Don't get me wrong there are some good paying gigs, but not like it was. You can make the same or more in a good house serving good food.

That gave me a giggle, my son's gf works in the gaming room at a local club and came in most excited the other night cos she got given $20...lol

We have a machine at our local hotel where my son works, and you have a membership card and you swipe it everytime you go there, so of course I always pop in when I pick Mark up from work and get my points and am really pleased with myself when I collect $5

Same same in Los Angeles. The have a "casino" at Hollywood Park. It's a Poker room. I've been thinking about playing some low stakes. They offer B.J. but the set up is B.S.! And then games like Pai-Gow, Carribean etc. The house takes a rake, higher the stakes, higher the rake, kinda makes it so you have to win on top of win.

We've been playing low-stakes poker for 25 YEARS!! Think I'd be more then just the average!

Calizzz- That is funny about the reverse affect thing, so im actually lucky where i live just being 4 of them, It.s funny becuz the same month harrahs bumped there free money from 20 a month to 30 amonth, isle of capri jumped from $20 to $60. And you dont ever have 2 play just away to get you in there. And i hear you about turning it into lights show and disneyland. Its like me i have been 2 florida 3 times always to pensacola, i love it not all the tourist crap and crowded e-where, we went to orlando it was like 2 diff. world w/ all the comercialization. I was ready to go back 2 pensacola instead. And careyg i havent hit huge jackpots , but $5000 & $3500 on video poker, I think slots maybe $1000 & $1500.
