I bought some extra firm tofu today. Does anyone have a healthy (and good tasting, lol) recipe for me? I am trying to get my weight down and my health up so this is one of my small steps. :hmmr

I have never eaten Tofu Judy sorry! But I hear its very good for you! :yes

I LOVE tofu...

Judy the one thing about tofu is it takes on the taste of whatever you mix in it.. so really anything your imagination can come up with..

for myself.. I like to do tofu wraps and you can put anything in them

I normally mix the tofu up with a bit of Miracle Whip, lo fat Ranch dressing.. ( you can use anything you like the taste of.. I have even used mustard although I don't especially care for that taste.. I like the Miracle Whip/Ranch dressing combo myself. )

I spread it out on the tortilla shells. ( I like the spinach ones the best.. and there is a good cheese one also)

then you just add whatever you want..
I usually add sliced radishes, alfalfa sprouts, bean sprouts, black olives.
green onions.. (sometime I throw in some diced celery, sometimes diced ham green peppers. etc etc.)

Again it's whatever YOU like to eat

If you put the tortilla shell on a piece of waxed paper that you have put on saran wrap it's easier to roll them and sliced them in half..

I made some and took them to work.. didn't tell the guys that I work with what was in them until AFTER they ate them and they begged me to bring more..

Yep that's what I do Judy raw tofu.. I mix it so it's spreadable like what you would for chicken or tuna salad although the soft tofu works better for this you can use the firm . ( drain the water first though if it has any with it) and if you don't use it all I think you are supposed to add new water to it to keep it fresh.. and it only keeps for about 5 days..

I know you can use it in all sorts of recipes and as subsitutes.. I haven't tried cooking with it per say mostly because I haven't really had the time.. and I'm not sure hubby would eat it.. ( but then if I didn't tell him what it was.. wellllllllll)

but here is a great page on it

Ok....so I probably should not tell y'all I made grilled chicken tenders, mashed potatos and noodles (yes, the famous noodles).

Judy -- cudos for trying, you are braver than me!
