I have a few tattoos, making plans to get another one soon. I love them. If I had the nerve, I would probably do a big piece somewhere on my body, but I am a chicken, so they are no larger than 10 inches. lol

My apologies to coffee but--people with tattoos are perceived as "free spirits" but really they are the ones who don't open themselves to the possibility of change and growth.

That doesn't make any sense to me. How does having a tattoo (or lots of them) prevent change or growth? I have a tattoo and I see myself changing and growing all the time. That's quite a statement to make considering you grouped all of us tattooed people together. I respect your right to your opinion; but I cannot agree with it.

I waited until my 30th birthday to get my bengal tiger on my ankle. I wanted to make sure I was going to want it for the rest of my life. I was happy with it then, and am still just as happy with it now...17 years later. They say every tattoo has a story behind it. I bet that guy in the original post has quite a few interesting stories to tell. I, for one, would pull up a chair and listen!
