My niece who is 14 is talking about getting a tattoo. Her father may be crazy enough to give her permission. I plan to pose this question to her because she just got a nice new hairdo. "Do you think that you will be wearing that hairdo for the next five years?" Of course, she'll probably say no. So then I will say, "Why do you think 5 years from now you would want the same thing permanently etched into your skin?"

My apologies to coffee but--people with tattoos are perceived as "free spirits" but really they are the ones who don't open themselves to the possibility of change and growth.

I am always open to possibilities and growth and not so much a free spirit so your statement is not true. You have to remember not everyone has the same idea's as you do. If they did this would be a pretty dismal world to live in for sure. Sorry but your comment struck me as one who does not accept possibilities and growth. My mom who was the best person in the world got one when she was 65 years old. She was in no way as you described as the type in which you stated.

I have to agree with coffee on this one. I have 3 grown sons. 2 of them have tattoos. I know many, many, many people with tattoos. They are just as normal as anyone else. The only reason I even posted that photo in the first place was to show how some people go to the extremes on things. I certainly meant nothing bad about people with tattoos in general.

I agree Carey:stresshe also has enough of rings and bracelets to match his tattoos. IMO to each his own, it is not for me though.

Actually my mom has a tattoo as well! I think that it's just getting out of hand now, with people doing their faces and stuff. Good things that get ruined when taken to an extreme.

I don't think this guy just recently had these done. I think it was more of an extreme back then, not so much now. :hahahaha

Phil hasm a tatoo on his left forearm of a unicorn with wings and just around Christmas this past year he got a heart with wings and my name in it on his left forearm. I really like the way it came out.

My daughter has one on her foot of a moon and stars and on her shoulder chinese symbols for mother and son. She talks about more and I keep screaming NO. lol I think a piece of art is nice but when you are covered with them you can't tell what anything is.
