On the first day of spring every year I hop in my car, with my mother and take a drive down around the harbour where the cruise ships will soon be coming in and we both get our spirits uplifted knowing that pretty soon the flowers will be blooming, ships will be arriving and the snow will be gone.
Then we go for the all time spring is here favorite food...Ice cream
And of course, thinking of ships, one would think of *Riverbelle*

spring is so wonderful this year,in 6 days i will see my best friend, i have not seen in 12 years,i am so happy,spring sooo rocks,wooo hooo.makes it much more beautiful this time,i am so gonna hug her sooo much,

I just love spring I live in PA and I hate the snow, so when spring comes and it starts to warm up I get outside as soon as I can. Plus this is the first year I can have a garden I've spent the last 3 weeks ripping up grass and weeds and planting all kinds of stuff. Lillies, amarillis', carnations, tomatos, carrotts, radishes, daffoldills, irises, now I can't wait until they all grow and bloom.

Spent this 70 degree spring day working in the yard preparing flower bed for planting, getting everthing ready to open the pool and washing and detailing the car. Spring days put be in such a better mood after all the winter cabin fever duldrums.

Here's little ancient history on the first day of spring....
The first day of spring usually falls between the 20th and the 22nd of March and has the lesser known name of Ostara. It is supposed to be a day of celebration and re-birth as Hades' wife, Penelope, comes to spend the next 6 months on earth with her mother. (mother nature). It is often marked with the beginings of preperation for spring planting, eggs and fertility as wild animals either get pregnant or give birth around this time. Ostara was once widly celebrated but was slowly phased out as Easter became more popular and pagan traditions were lost. Many Easter traditons now can be traced back to original Ostara celebrations since they were absorbed into the culture to make the transition easier for those who had celebrated paganly for their entire lives.
