It took me a day to be able to post, but my sweet mom has passed away at age of 92. I have been so blessed to be born into my family, I have had a live of love, enrichment, excitement, and encouragement. The storm here last week, and subsequent 3 day power outage significantly added to the speed with which she grew weaker. We did our best to surround her with good care, but finally she needed to be hospitalized. She was in the hospital for five days, and they called us in at about 10:45pm - her vitals were rapidly changing and we should come if we wished to say goodbye. Although she did not speak, she did open her eyes on occasion and squeeze a hand. We held her, prayed with her, and reminisced. We encouraged her to go be with Dad in heaven. We decided she would not want us to witness the final moments, and she passed away 20 minutes after we left. It was as if she was staying so we would not see... She was so kind and loving. She's left us a note asking us (there are six children) to do as Our Lord had said.... to love each other as she had loved us... and we will do so, for she left us a legacy and a shining example of how to love.
