Be smart folks!! We in the Midwest are always prepared for a storm so you need to do a few things to be ready! Fill up your tubs with water, get batteries and a radio! Write down #'s for important family/friends if you loose electric your(not really sure if pay phones still exit..lol)
cell could be useless! It could be easier to contact people out of your state so find a friend or family member not effected by the storm to be the contact for emergency.. Make sure to have small bills of cash in state of emergency not everyone can break large bills!

I dont think Vixen gets Hurricanes often, she is prone to Tornadoes!!

As soon as my stupid ass mayor shut down all schools i knew we were in for a bad storm!! He NEVER shuts the schools. Then they close all Mass transit and the Stock Exchange!!! I am freaking out!! It is starting to pick up here this morning but the worse is expected throughout today until about 1am this morning. They think many of us will lose electricity, I am praying I am not one of them!!

Stay Safe everyone!!

The storm is really picking up now. We are about 2 1/2 hours west of the Jersey shore. We go to Avalon NJ every year and I am so worried how devastating this storm will be to the shore lines. Hopefully everyone in the path of the storm stays safe.

The devastation from this storm has been unbelievable!! 80 homes burned down on Breezy Point, Queens. The Brooklyn Battery Tunnel flooded completely. millions without power. Seaside Heights destroyed, Belmar destroyed as well. All homes along the Jersey Shore destroyed, all homes along the water in Staten Island and Long Island destroyed, In fact, all homes along any water in and of the states that the storm hit are destroyed, Trees down everywhere, cars smashed to pieces. I cant even being to name all the damage. Its HUGE!

I'm so pleased to see that you have been online Carey, I was really concerned, they kept showing it on the news all last night and said most of the city was without power. I had to laugh Letterman still ran his show, but without audience, it really was strange, his jokes sounded even more lame than usual...lol Glad you are okay also Luck3Sevens, you had any damage to your place?
