My holiday to work, (work every other holiday) i don't go to the fireworks, usually, all we have to do is go out on the front porch or patio and look up.;)
It's alot safer, don't like to get too close :laugh

I would love to just spend my day sitting on my arse here at the Streak but no such luck for me. The kids will drag me outside to barbeque ( maybe I'll be lucky and it will rain)..lol!! The night before I will be making potato salad and macaroni salad and getting everything together. The cleanup is the worst part...geeze! Yep,every 4th of July means work for me and you know why, heres their reasoning,Mom is the best cook!! Lol...you mean best patsy!!
Then it will be outside on the front lawn to watch the fireworks. We get a good view because they shoot them off a few blocks from my house.

This is when I miss hubby the most. He died on June 29th five years ago but you know that barbeque went on as usual that year because he would have wanted that.So we did it in celebration of his life and we spent the day remembering him.

I hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July!

On the 3rd my friend Doug (of 32 yrs.) is taking me to his sisters house to swim and maybe play poker. I have to tell them "friends don't let friends play no-limit!!!

On the 4th I think a Beetles cover band, with fireworks drumroll

And on the 5th Cubensis is playing in Hollywood. The band is putting together a BBQ for us!!! So, dancing and eating. And getting a little older!

My grandma had a tradition where family and friends would gather at her house for dinner ( potluck type thing).. from there some would go to 4th of July events in town. ( the town I live in has a 4 day celebration, with carnivals, bands, beverage garden, talent shows.. food courts etc etc) or some would just hang out at her house. and then of course everyone would gather to watch the parade.

Since my grandma died.. Taz has carried on the tradition and now family and friends gather at my house on the 4th ( even when Taz has to work lol)
It makes it convenient for those who live out of town and need a place to sit and relax for a while.

My only plans are to sleep all weekend long. Mike and I are going to try to stop smoking...again lol. He has patches ready and I am going cold turkey. I did it once for a year. If I cant do it again I will check out the new electric smokes online. A lady I met in the store told me her friend uses them and they work great. So will seee. Hoping I can just sleep through the first 2 days.;)

Good luck Redfawn, I have not smoked in 8 days and it is not getting one bit easier.

Hope everyone has a great 4th July, we do not celebrate it here, but I gather the norm is a bbq and fireworks is that right?

I'm giving up cos I was killing myself with the smokes, but the saving I will make will be incredible, I was smoking $AUS20 a day
