Most might have seen the news clip, but last month at the young age of 110, the United States sadly lost is very last surviving veteran of the first World War,......I cant believe these wonderful people whom where truly from the home of the Brave are gone, they're really All Gone, I hope the way I live and pass on this country be worthy of there sacrifice, and may there be no remianance of this horrific event between the sons and daughters of this World in any of there lifes now

Thanks for posting this. I hadn't realized the last one was gone.... when we were first married in the 1980's, our neighbor was a WWI vet.... He'd describe the conditions and battles and tell us stories of the war. He survived mustard gas! We owe our freedom to those brave soldiers.

Wow, I loved listening to my grandpa tell storys bout WWII. He was 1 of 2 doctors aboard a escort carrier "USS Liscombe Bay" allowing only 1 field doctor away from deck at anytime, my grandpa on this day flipped a coin and lossed his chance to be 1st shift to the mess hall, 15 minutes later a jap. torpedo struck almost exact location of the mess hall, the vessel sunk within 20 minutes.Of the 1500 sailors 150 survived, my grandpa was of them. Oil spread 100 yards all round the ship and ignited(this is where he pulled his golf hat off, with his tattoo covered arms showing his scar'd head) my grandpa dove under coming up to soon burning him, he continued paddling to and fo rescue'n injured sailors earning the Purple hurt, GREAT MAN. he passed away last October at 86 yrs od.....RIP Dewey Brian Smth

this is the exact ship commishened only for 5 months... grandpas....aboard during this pc srry only kn0w photobcket http://i597.photobucket.com/albums/tt52/Breed123456/800px-USS_Liscome_Bay_CVE56.jpg

My dad also served.......big time diffrent war however, he served four tours( 2 years)of Vietnam in the 1st Infantry, Calvary-mortor division... not much to be said after my 33 years, hes starting tell his own storys for the 1st time!
