One of the celebrity chef's restaurants just got some really bad news, as Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill at the MGM Grand was closed down on Jan. 2 by the Southern Nevada Health District for numerous health code violations.

A notice on the restaurant's website said: "Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill is temporarily closed. We will reopen for dinner on Monday, January 6th at 5 PM."
The Southern Nevada Health District closed the restaurant on Jan. 2 after a routine inspection revealed "effective gross unsanitary conditions or conditions including pest infestation," according to the health department's website. It also cited the restaurant's "effective pest control measures."

Six other Wolfgang Puck operations related to the restaurant were also cited and closed down, including its butcher shop/meat room, prep kitchen, bar, server station, hotline, and exhibition kitchen.

The violations listed included issues with "food wholesome, not spoiled, contaminated or adulterated," "chemicals properly identified, stored and used," and "food protected from potential contamination by employees and consumers."

Violations included issues of cleaning and sanitizing

The health department also listed violations such as "food contact surfaces of equipment properly cleaned and sanitized," "sanitizing solution provided and maintained as required," "food thawed and cooled using proper methods," and "fruits and vegetables washed prior to preparation or service."

The restaurant, butcher shop/meat room, prep kitchen, hotline, and exhibition kitchen received 42 demerits from the inspection, though the bar and server station received no demerits.

Restaurant closures by the Southern Nevada Health District in Las Vegas are not common with one other restaurant, Kono's Northshore, closed on Jan. 3 with seven violations and 14 demerits.
