But this was about GAMING and cheating in Vegas. I watched a segment with a guy who used to work for the Gaming Commission. He was like their star employee. His job was to examine the machines, see how they operate, suss out any glitches, ascertain if people can cheat, etc. Well, he got a little too good at his job, and he figured out how to win Keno. Ha ha, got your attention now eh!? Well, he realized that the numbers are NOT chosen randomly as we all assume and that they do follow some pattern. In figuring out the pattern he was able to raise his odds of getting 10 numbers from 3 percent each ticket to 30 percent each ticket. So, of course, he caves into temptation and goes to Altantic City with a buddy. The buddy buys 10 cards and chooses the numbers based on their system. The buddy hit the 10 numbers--$100,000—on the first game.

Well apparently the Gaming Commission is not a great believer in plain old good luck either. They investigated the two, the genius guy was arrested and fired. Maybe I’m being naïve, but aren’t we ALL trying to figure out ways how to win and beat the machine? I understand the wrongness of him being an insider, but if a regular Joe could figure out how to raise his odds on winning Keno would that be perceived as cheating? It’s the same as the counting cards thing with Blackjack. I just don’t understand why that’s considered cheating either. What about Video Games? It’s like getting arrested because you get too good at playing Sim City or Mortal Combat!

Interesting story! I must say I have never thought there was a way to cheat at Keno. I have done well on it a few times. Not $100,000.00 well, but pretty good. Just last week, I was playing 1c keno at Club World and won $28.00 on a penny! It was cool and kept me playing for a while. Back when we use to be able to play Micro software, was drinking and playing......... betting $5 a roll but had a few hundred in my account......... hit $1500.00 !! That was a blast!

I miss Micro!!!!!!

Oh I miss Micro too weez. But I used to play Keno for a penny at InetBet, that was great when you're down to nothing. Sometimes I'd win like 40/50 cents then I'd go back to the slots. They discontinued the game though. :slot

iNetBet discontinued Keno? No, they still have it. :think

Great post Luck. Since this was someone paid to figure these things out, it would be just like an inside trader. A normal person figuring out a system, I don't think they could really prove it wasn't luck, lol
