When the 9/11 attacks happened?

I was at home working. I didn't have a TV in my office but the others were on and I heard them going nuts so I ran in there. Actually saw the second plane hit and I tell you, shock does not even begin to explain what was going through my mind.

It is so sad that we now live in a world where your kids cannot safely play in their own yard without constant worry :(

I was sitting in the dining room having coffee with a friend after we had just dropped our kids off at school. I got a call from my husband in a state of panic asking if we were okay. He worked in Manhattan and had just witnessed the first plane go into the building, he was actually about 2 blocks away and on his way to do a job at the WTC, he works for Con Edison(electric company). I turned on the tv and watched it all happen after that. Ran to the school to pick up my kids and it was the scariest feeling in the world. There was ash around us, all papers flying and landing on our lawn, you can look up at the sky and all you saw was black smoke. My husband was trapped in the city and we didnt get to see him for 2 days. It was all such a horriblke experience and watching on tv is nothing compared to being in NY and living it! I knew many people that died that day, no one close to me thank god but many families were ripped apart and their lives forever changed on that horrible day!

I was sitting at home talking with my husband, tv on
in the background. It was the most heartbreaking thing
to watch on television. It was actually surreal, like it
wasn't really true, just another movie or something.

I was dropping my four year old at the sitters after her first day in preschool. The big screen tv was on and we saw it in horror. It was a bright sunny day here in Ohio, but we were so scared and sad. A terrible hollow feeling. We live near a huge air force base and were stunned by the silence, no planes in the air. But about 4pm a sonic boom from a plane sent us all outside.

Words' can't express how sad I am when I think of the families and lost innocents.

Carey how frightened you must have been. Thank you for sharing with us your experiences of that time.

Carey we were neighbors once! I lived in Chelsea at the time, about 25 blocks from World Trade. I learned what was happening of all places on the Howard Stern Show, he was talking hysterically about us being under attack and whether or not he should still be broadcasting.

I didn't have cable TV, so when I turned on the TV there was nothing but snow. The antenna was on the 1st tower hit. I went down to the office in my building and gathered with other neighbors to see the TV there. Some of my neighbors went up to the roof, where they could see the towers--until they both fell.

Worst for us in NYC was the constant noise of sirens and police and military helicopters that went on for weeks afterward. One night I was awakened to a chopper right out my window shining a light in my eyes!

Later passing underground, and under the site, on the subway going from Manhattan to Brooklyn, I felt aware of travelling under a mass grave before everything was cleaned up. My friend claimed she could smell "it." It was a creepy feeling.

May God continue to bless and protect the U.S.A.

I can totally relate Luck!! A few weeks after it happened, me, hubby and the kids took a ride to Manhattan and he showed us ground zero and the surrounding area. OMG. it was like a snowstorm, everything was light gray ash, everywhere! Such an eerie feeling for an area that is always full of people and life!
