Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

I recently got a new computer that has Vista on it..

I have tried to do screenshots but no matter what I do when I go to paste it
into my paint program or word program there isn't anything to paste

I have tried holding the print screen key, holding the crtl key and print screen key at the same time, and also holding the alt key and print screen key at the same time. and it's like it's not copying the screen shot because I can't choose the paste option

I hope that makes sense

Taz what kind of keyboard do you have? I've been running vista since it came out and with my logitech keyboard I had to download driver/program for all features to work. Hope this helps. mos......

Taz try this.

Press and hold the fn key, then press the insert/prt sc key (just above the backspace key,) or whatever your says on your HP.

Then go to your Start menu and enter Paint in the search box. When Paint comes up, click on it.
Next go to edit and click on paste. Your screenshot should appear within the Paint window. Click on the save icon and give it a name so you can find it easily the next time. Hope it works for u.. mos...

Mos I haven't tried that yet.. but here's the deal

my prnt screen key is the same as the num locks key and their is a light above it.. I am assuming to let me know if the num locks is on or off..
the thing is no matter how many times I push that damn key the light never comes on.. however the keys right besides that key work just dandy.. so I have to wonder if that key is functioning correctly..
I also downloaded all the updates from Microsoft and am in the process of downloading all the updates that correspond to my system from HP.. ( all the keyboard ones are downloaded)

If I am reading your post right.. I would gather that the fn key is the function key and by doing what you are saying it will enable the prnt scr key is that correct?

I will try it once I get home from work and let you know the results:hug

ON laptops, you need to press the function key to access the dual function of a button. This is usually labeled FN and on the very left of the keyboard. Just hold it down and press print screen.. I wish I had one in front of me so I could be sure. mos...

OK, Here's a doozy

My mom has vista home and yesterday she went to go into her pictures folder and all the subfolders were there but none of the pictures.

Anyone have any ideas?

Lucky,

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->Run System Restore to a time before the problem began. But if you have installed any new programs since then you might lose them. also if you did any window updates it won't go past them usually.Make sure to do a new restore point before you do this incase of any problems you can get back to present time of restore.
Its so hard to tell what would cause this without knowing what she had done previous to losing them. Hope this helps. mos...
