it was plenty hot here today in VA! 90+ degrees!

I'm heading to new york around the 28th or 29th this month, hopefully the heatwave passes then lol

Atlantic City 1st stop, Manhattan NY next stop, then finish off in Niagra Falls!

And yes, Air Condition is one of the best inventions in the world!

WOW, those electric bills are ridiculous. They should give everyone a break in that hot weather like that. I have one of those freestanding air conditioners that you just stick the hose out the window. I just bought it and am not sure if I want to use it, my electric bill was only $12 without it, lol.

i have central air too and my bill has always ran high but i have about 1950 SQ ft in my double wide.

What kills me is the $300-$400 heat bills with my heat pump but in the summer my bill is only around $150 a month and my A/C runs all day long!

Don't know if NY rates are extremely higher there, but whatever you spend to keep warm in winters you bill shouldn't be as high in the summer running the ac.

This place I rented has radiant heat in the floors. I have a gas water heater and the hot water runs through tubes in the floor. This is a duplex, upper and lower and I have the bottom unit. The owner said the people before me said the lady upstairs keeps hers so warm (she has the same heat) that they hardly had to use theirs. They said their highest bill in below zero weather was $60. I am so looking forward to that. :hppdnc

I have the same hot water baseboard system Judy, unbelievably affordable. No duct work though so have a huge 18,000 btu window unit installed permenantly in the wall. One fan to circulate the air down the hall and we're comfortable all summer... Bill for electric is around $150 - but worth it....

Beaches and my Dad was a mailman and he hated the heat, so we had AC LONG before most families did... TWO 18,000 BTU window units and we'd decide to "submerge"... close the windows and cool down the house lol... in summer we'd bring our mattresses down stairs to sleep in the air, but eventually we all had window units for our bedrooms too.... cheap electric back then lol

Keep safe everyone....

Yours is in the baseboards? Mine is hot water running through tubes under the floor is that what you mean?

Hey all you New Yorkers, has the heat let up at all? We are getting our own heat wave right now in the 90s but we don't have that horrible humidity thank goodness.

:yes my pipes are not under the floor as this is a slab home, my inlaws is too, so both theirs and mine are in pipes running through the whole house but in baseboards around each room.... unbelievable the warmth, without any noisy fans blowing the hot air around. You can't crank it up and get immediate heat like you can with forced air, but you can afford to keep it at 70 or even 72 all winter long here .... runs on natural gas and that bill is never more than $100 even in the winter! What a blessing it was here when we bought it!
