On June 24th, Congressman Joe Barton (R-TX) introduced H.R. 2366, the Online Poker Act of 2011. This bill will restore your online poker rights by allowing licensed companies to offer Internet poker with real-money play to U.S. residents. The bill is a huge leap forward for the poker community in the aftermath of Black Friday. Twelve of Mr. Barton’s colleagues have already become sponsors of this legislation:
Rep. Andrews, Robert [NJ-1]
Rep. Berkley, Shelley [NV-1]
Rep. Campbell, John [CA-48]
Rep. Cohen, Steve [TN-9]
Rep. Conyers, John, Jr. [MI-14]
Rep. Frank, Barney [MA-4]
Rep. Grimm, Michael G. [NY-13]
Rep. Honda, Michael M. [CA-15]
Rep. King, Peter T. [NY-3]
Rep. Paul, Ron [TX-14]
Rep. Perlmutter, Ed [CO-7]
Rep. Sanchez, Linda T. [CA-39]

SEND AN EMAIL TO PRES. OBAMA AND CONGRESS
2) Call your Representative and Senators
It is as easy as picking up the phone. Call the offices of your Representative and your two Senators and ask them to support licensing of online poker. This should be a short, friendly call where you simply ask that they support your poker rights.
Tell the staffer who answers the phone:
I am a constituent, voter and a poker enthusiast.
(For Representatives) Please support H.R. 2366 a bipartisan bill to license and regulate Internet poker.
(For Senators) H.R. 2366 has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives and I want the Senator to support Senate legislation to license and regulate Internet poker.
Regulation means strong consumer protections as well as billions of dollars in federal and state revenue.
Please support my freedoms and support this bill.
Thank you and I would like a response from the Representative/Senator.

4) Communicate on social networks
Nearly every member of Congress is on Facebook or uses Twitter to communicate with his/her constituents. In fact, Congressman Joe Barton publicly stated that hearing from poker enthusiasts affected by the DoJ crackdown via Facebook helped motivate him to introduce his bill. Simply “like” your Representatives’ and Senators’ Facebook page and then post a message asking that they support H.R. 2366.
We also encourage you to visit the Facebook pages of two relevant House Committees.
“Like” the House Energy and Commerce Committee page and ask that they hold a hearing on H.R. 2366.
“Like” the House Financial Services Committee page and ask that they hold a hearing on H.R. 1174, the Campbell/Frank Internet poker and Internet casino gaming regulation bill.
5) Reach out to the media
Getting this issue out in the mainstream press is an important component to building momentum behind the bill. We encourage you to send a “Letter to the Editor” to your local paper to praise the introduction of H.R. 2366 and to encourage your state’s lawmakers to support it. Many PPA members took this action in the wake of Black Friday and dozens of letters were published! Let’s keep the good work up and send your letter to the editor today.
It is also important that if you see an online news story about Internet poker regulation that you take a moment to comment on it (if the story allows for public comments online). The more comments/interest a story receives; the more likely that news outlet will commit more time covering the issue. This is a great and easy way for us to get more attention for our poker rights!
