Philippines operator Solaire Resort and Casino, one of the Integrated Resorts located in the country’s Entertainment City has introduced rapid mass testing for all its employees in preparation for resumption of operations in the coming weeks.

As announced in the press release in the company’s website, Chairman of the Board and CEO Enrique K. Razon Jr., said “We anticipate a slow restart of operations as we gauge the market’s response after the ECQ is lifted.”

“At this time, all our team members are undergoing a screening process that involves an interview and COVID-19 testing. We are doing this to ensure that all the employees we allow to return to work are healthy and in the best shape to provide our outstanding signature service.”

The integrated resort operated by Bloomberry Hotels and Resorts, Inc, has been active in providing assistance to the government since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, and has donated a total of P600 million (US$12 million) in medical supplies and relief goods.

“One of the many reasons we generate revenue is to be able to give back to our community. We believe that the current situation calls us to give back more than what is legally required as we play our role in flattening the curve”, the CEO stated.

Philippines president Rodrigo Duterte announced Enhanced Community Quarantine or ECQ extension to 15 May, totaling to two months. Following the lifting of ECQ, General Community Quarantine or GCQ will be implemented, which allows select non-essential industries to resume operations while following government guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

The rules announced for GCQ do not include easing restrictions for the entertainment and gaming industry immediately following the lifting of ECQ.

All PAGCOR operated and licensed casino operations, including Solaire Resort, were suspended since the announcement of the Luzon-wide ECQ on 15 May.

Online casino operations were later suspended as announced by the regulator PAGCOR. After careful consideration, a third of online casino operations will resume operations starting this week, following a stringent pre-operations compliance.
