Urgent: Warning message from EcoCard Ltd. to all account holders

We have become aware that fraudsters may be trying to obtain the personal and/or credit card details of EcoCard account holders. At the moment these attacks appear to be committed by people using an internet based Instant Messaging Service such as MSN but they may also use emails.
If you are subjected to such an attack you may receive a message from someone trying to add you to their contact list or an e-mail.
If contact is made through an Instant Messaging service the user identity will be given as "EcoCard security", if by email the e-mail address given will be "[email protected]".
The first sentence of any message may read "Hello I am one of the EcoCard online live customer service team".
They may ask you to provide:
  • Details of your identity (for example an identity card number),
  • Details of your credit card (including account number, expiry date and security code),
  • Other personal information.
If you receive any such contact don't respond to it, these people are probably criminals who are looking to steal your money or identity.
The people responsible for these 'phishing' attacks send the same message to as many people as they can - they don't know your personal details - the aim of the message is to get them.
EcoCard will never ask you to disclose any of your personal details by email or any instant messaging service and will not make any contact with you by any Instant Messaging Service and no genuine EcoCard email addresses end "hotmail.com", they will all end "[email protected]".
If you are contacted in the way described above then please report this to [email protected].
If you are at all concerned about this matter then contact us at [email protected].

Regards,
EcoCard Security Team

How do I know this is not a Spoof email? Spoof or 'phishing' emails tend to have generic greetings such as "Dear EcoCard member". Emails from EcoCard will always address you by your first and last name.

Calm down hon. Does QT have a support phone # listed? If so I would call them and talk to them right now if I were you.

Thank you Judy hon, I cant seem to find it. But I do see that the emails on that letter I was sent have the same email for contacting them. I just had no idea that they ask for info when you go to send a withdraw to another place now. I did it one time last week and they sent it then I needed to do it again and got that email.

Looks like the only contact they show on QT is this link:

http://www.quicktender.com/contact.aspx

which takes you to their online contact form. I didn't see a phone number to call them either. They also state they work from M-F (7-1700 GMT), if that helps. Let us know how you do this this. I hope it all works out for you. I'm just guessing that since you are withdrawing to WP and this is new for you that they are requiring all this info. Again, though, let us know you're okay. Good luck!
