You were fortunate you didn't lose your place as well. Looks like we have a hero amongst us, well done Rusty! Only a couple of months ago my son and his wife woke up in the middle of the night to find that their neighbours garage was on fire, but that was probably a good 100 feet from the back of their house.

100 feet/10feet house/garage, dont matter when ya witness something so feared, rarley seen, but practiced mentally over and over, and that adrenaline kicks in...its like a nightmare with Speed, all that went through my head was warn the unknown, scoop all three my cats grab my wife , wake my building and then 3 hours of going over it in my head. moral of the story is...dont leave combustibles near your heater

Many moons ago, I woke up in the middle of the night thinking the moon was awfully bright. So I got up and thankfully looked out the window as the neighbors garage was on fire (real close to our house!) It was doubly scarey because they had an oil barrel at the back of the garage - a full one! We called 911. alerted the neighbors and hosed our own roof down on that side of the house as we did not have a metal roof and it that garage was damn close! All was well in the end thank goodness. Glad I was a light sleeper. Nowadays I can sleep through anything and can't hear a thing.gngr

Thank God you woke them up. Well done Rusty! When I was four I was staying at my Grandmother's and my mom was in her apartment alone. She was sleeping and she woke up and went to light a cigarette and her gas stove blew up. She was in ICU for a good six months. She had third degree burns over 70% of her body. She wasn't supposed to survive it. My room was gone and if I hadn't been at my Grandma's I would never had lived through it. Fires scare the hell out of me. My mom who now lives with Phil and I has had a very rough life because of it. Her lungs are real damaged and as she gets older it gets worse. You really saved people of a horrible tragedy.

thats a Horrible story, I know how she feels, when I was twelve a buudy of mine was sitting across from me with a butter tub of gasoline and he throw a match into it and it went up in his face, he threw it away from him and well thats where I was, it landed in my lap and Poof.....Ignited I was. I was taking to the hospital giving tylenol and sent home>>>>Yah sent home, Went into shock the next day so they admitted me and was there a week without painkillers(They where practicing 20 years out of date, Scrubbed my burns with a wire brush which took 9 of them to hold me down,im sure I broke a couple noses) until Harborview Burn Center in Seattle sent me a Jet to pick me up, when they arrived the med vacs Instantly shot me up with morphine took me out and told the nurses on the way out they would be hearing from Harborviews Lawyers real soon(We wound up suing for Hospital fees, which was over $250,000.00) I had skin grafts and couldn't walk comfortably for about a year. Burns are the Worst Pain Severe or Mild I have ever felt in my Life, I have friends(Met through the Hospital) That have 100% of there bodys Burnt, most have nubs for hands and feet, no eyelids,no ears or hair....Horrible thing to happen to Anybody

At least they took care of my mom. I can't imagine the agony she suffered though. Unfortunately it really robbed her of alot. My sperm donor of a father walked out and left her right after. I know as a kid I was always ready to fight when people would look and point and stare.
