Now they found it in milk??? Seriously??!! Here's a question do you think there has been small traces of radiation prior to Japan's Nuclear disaster and went undetected or is this from Japan's Nuclear disaster. Anyone heard of other countries having traces of radiation now.. Very Curious to know...:raise

Breathe easy friends, and don't worry... It must be a slow news day, because they have hyped this story way out of line.... There's nothing to worry about except the possible "crises" they will try to create out of this....

here's the info I found on it at the Wall Street Journal, with pertinent info highlighted by me in red:

The U.S. government said Wednesday that traces of radiation have been found in milk in Washington state, but said the amounts are far too low to trigger any public-health concern.

The Environmental Protection Agency said a March 25 sample of milk produced in the Spokane, Wash., area contained a 0.8 pico curies per literlevel of iodine-131, which it said was less than one five-thousandth of the safety safety guideline set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The EPA said it increased monitoring after radiation leaked from Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant. It expects more such findings in coming days, but in amounts "far below levels of public-health concern, including for infants and children."
Iodine-131 has a half-life of about eight days, meaning levels should fade quickly. "These findings are a minuscule amount compared to what people experience every day," the agency said.
For example, a person would be exposed to low levels of radiation on a round trip cross country flight, watching television, and even from construction materials," Patricia Hansen, an FDA senior scientist, said in a written statement distributed by the EPA late Wednesday.

I did watch the 5 oclock news and that is pretty much what they said. HOWEVER, this is the tip of the iceberg. They say only 4% of our food supply comes from Japan. Ok............that is 4% still. The more the government tells us "not to worry" the more I worry (about anything they say, lol)

Right you are Judy. If you remember when this disaster started We in the USA was told no worries that it would not travel to USA then traces were found. even thou the traces are harmless, the question is with all the Nuclear plants in the US who is to say that radiation is not from those said plants in USA as we did infact start scanning more for radiation. I did read that the plant in Vermont had very minut traces of radiation emitting from plant prior to the Japan nuclear disaster ...hmmm makes you wonder now.

I did read a disturbing article after I posted and wondered if I had dismissed the worries too easily. And that was reinforced after reading Judy's comments, as I usually feel that way too. And I don't trust the media either....

I feel better after reading lkviking's post...

But I will say what I read today compares Japan to Chernobyl.... x3 because it's at 3 different reactors...

Thank heavens we're in God's hands....

That's exactly how I feel.
