Proposed legislation that could have seen Florida legalise intrastateonline poker for residents has died after failing to make it out of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee.
The proposed legislation, known as Senate Bill 812 and sponsored by Republican State Senator Diaz de la Portillaof Miami, would have allowed Floridians to play online poker against each other utilising an Internet system operated by the state’s parimutuel cardrooms.
The measure, which was opposed by the Florida Sheriff’s Association and the Poker Players Alliance, was killed on Tuesday afternoon after failing to make it out of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee following a two-two tie vote.
