Phil is out of surgery and in ICU right now. They are going to keep him sleeping overnight because they don't want to take him off the ventilator until tomorrow since he has sleep apnea. I did get to see him after and he looks rough. It was a pretty scary sight and I wouldn't bring the girls back there to see him that way.

My youngest was real upset about not getting to see him but on the way home she told me I trust you to do what is right and if you think daddy wouldn't want me to see him this way I won't be upset with you.

I honestly don't believe I could have gotten through this without all your prayers and support. Please keep them coming for a full and speedy recovery for him.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Michelle

That is wonderful news that surgery is over. Yes, they do look rough for a while but remember what he has been through lately and then the surgery hon. Hang in there, he will be up and running soon. :)HG

I called Phil's nurse last night to check on him and she told me they wouldn't back the sedation down until 4:00am. She told me get some rest and no news is good news. So I finally fally asleep about 1:00 and my phone rings at 6:00am. I know it's the hosptial and I am shaking. She tells me Michelle this is Katrina Phil's nurse and we backed off on sedation and Phil came to and pulled his tube o...ut. I'm thinking holy crap now what. Then she goes on to tell me he pulled his own breathing tube and he asked me to call you right away and tell you he was up. I hang up and my daughter comes running and I am laughing and crying. What a great way to start the day! Thank you for helping get him through this.

So glad he is doing well in recovery, and it prob is best the youngest does not see him this way, it killed me to see my Dad in ICU. Try to get some rest you will have to be strong for Phil in the next few weeks.. Hugs

Thank you everyone. I got up there around 7:30 this morning and stayed with him until 11:45 tonight. He always tells me to go home but this time he was asking me to please stay and don't leave him. He was more scared than I have ever seen him. The pain was unreal and I finally got a doctor to give him a dilaudid instant release. He can push the button every eight minutes and get the pain medicine through his IV. It did the trick and made it more bearable for him. It was so tough to see him in that much pain. By the time I left he was ready to rest and I am finally ready to get some sleep I hope. Hopefully the morning will be a little easier on him.

Love to you all!

He is doing better today. He said the meds were making him a little paranoid, so we are changing them a little. He even said I could go home for a bit a rest. I'll go back this evening.
