Penn National acquired Barstool in 2020 and is now looking to expand the name into Pennsylvania’s physical sportsbook market.
The acquisition saw Penn National spend $163m on a 36% interest in Barstool Sports.
While Barstool is well known for its online presence in Pennsylvania, this will be their first physical location, marking a significant move for the company.
It will be integrated into the Hollywood Casino York (pictured), located in a renovated area of the York Galleria Mall, and should open by late August.
This move was first mentioned by the general manager of Hollywood Casino York, Ruben Warren, on the location’s website,
where he announced that a Barstool Sportsbook was on its way, saying, “The casino will include a new concept Barstool Sportsbook and bar with exciting interactive experiences.”
Barstool will take over from the previous sportsbook in the Hollywood Casino that saw its sports lounge close due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Penn National’s two other locations across the state, The Meadows in Washington and The Hollywood Casino in Grantville,
both will adopt the Barstool name. However, the soon to launch Hollywood Casino in Morgantown won’t take on the Barstool brand due to previous deals with BetMGM.
The Hollywood Casino York is expected to include up to 40 table games and 500 to 700 slot machines to accompany the sportsbook.
