To the surprise of many in the gambling industry,
New Jersey’s online poker franchise has performed below initial expectations in its first three years,
not attracting as many resident players as needed and even being overshadowed by the growth of other types of online games.
But that could change if Pennsylvania approves online poker and then teams with New Jersey,
drawing a reinforcing pool of out-of-state players to the Garden State’s online games and boosting state revenues
culled from those games in the process.
