Today I read a story in the newspaper about online gambling in the Netherlands. 1 Million people from the Netherlands gamble on a regular base. But there is no verifaction of the gambling branche at all.People who are gambling on the internet are now outlaws and have a great chance to be scamed by gambling companies from Asia, Africa or the Caribean area. The dutch branche of gambling wants the law of gaming to be modernized. In the last ten years the amount of people who are gambling on the internet raised from zero to 1 million. In the European Union people spent several billions on internet gambling. The Dutch gouverment doesn't earn a thing about this. They've got to come with a new law of gaming in which fair play and protection of the gamer are important goals. This is also what the gouvernment is planning to do. Now, there are only a few casino's that are legal, like for instance Holland Casino, and Oranje Casino. Thats not fair in the framework of the European Union. In other countries who are also member of the European Union there are already new laws about internet gaming, for example Denmark, they're having a so called control room in which online gambling sites are being watched 24 hours a day. They're checking for example if a big jackpot really will be paid to the players and not to the owners. The Netherlands should look a bit more at these kinds of countries where the gouverment works together with bona fide online gambling companies and treats them as alies. In the Netherlands it will take a long time before we will get there, but at least looking at it, and thinking about it might be a good start!
