A good run of cards in the beginning of July has made many World Series of Poker players main event champions in the past. Now, however, players must not only be good and lucky in July, but they must also resume their sharp playing and their fortunate breaks in November.
The main event of the WSOP no longer plays straight through until there is a winner. Instead, players compete in July, and when the final table has been determined, play breaks until November. That gives players an entire summer to think about how they will approach the final table.
Michael Mizrachi has been a professional poker player for years, but this will be the first time Mizrachi will have such a layoff between play. Mizrachi, like other final table participants, has spent the past couple of months traveling, playing cards, and coming up with a strategy on how to be the last man standing.
