Hello Streakers,

I am on a mission to remind everyone to brush their teeth. I know, it's funny to say that here, but while you are gaming you might be sitting for hours, drinking sodas and munching...I know I do. So, let me tell you that I have just had all of my top teeth removed and now have a denture. How exciting!!!

Seriously, due to health problems that caused me to take medication that destroyed my upper jaw bone over the last 10 years or so, and the fact that I just think I'm going to live forever and nothing horrible (health-wise) is ever going to happen to ME, I couldn't even get implants.

So, after you read this, go brush and floss. Do it two times AT LEAST every day. If I work at it, and go to the dentist regularly, I might just save my bottom teeth.

This is not a "pretty" message, I know, but I hope you will listen to me, especially if you have great teeth now, or have kids. I'm the greatest example for my grandchildren to practice good dental hygiene. For those of you in or approaching menopause, remember that osteoporosis affects ALL of your bones, including your jawbone. Take care of it!!

Wishing you all beautiful smiles for those photos they'll take when you hit the big jackpot!

It's just awful, but I am very fortunate that my new plate doesn't feel too bad. My grand-niece, who is seven, asked me if my boyfriend is going to mind. I told her that I don't have a boyfriend right now and she said, "Well, good luck with that now." LOL! Guess I moved into the geezer years! Hey, Liam Neeson is 60 or so, and he's not so bad. :)

Notesfromabroad , wow yes i am all too familiar with this myself, i have been on varying medications for many years for a health problem i have, for some reason it has casued my teeth to weaken, think it has to do with the enamel , anyway i have seriuosly bad teeth on my upper jaw, and it is most unpleasant not to mention keeps me from smiling much.. i am holding onto my natural teeth left there a long as i can, as ugly as they are, i am very happy for you that you yourself have managed to get your dentures finally i will be going that path myself in the future.. but hey now you can SMILE CONFIDENTLY :)

The truth is, I mourned the loss of my teeth. Well, I've had them for about 45 years, LOL. I cried as if I'd lost fingers. I let myself cry, and then I told myself to just move on, and I can't tell you how happy I am to be able to smile again.

People do not realize how much it affects you to lose your smile. I'm so much kinder to people with bad teeth now. I know their embarrassment and I understand that it's not always caused by poor dental hygiene. It's so expensive to correct; I just don't know how people without insurance do it. I have insurance and it was still almost $5,000.

Anyway, I am taking my new smile to my 13-year old daughter's martial arts belt testing today. She becomes a black belt! Dyed my hair, had my nails done and bought a new blouse. I want to look really nice the first time she sees me with my new choppers, LOL. (She lives with her father.) Now I'm not afraid of having my picture taken, so I'll be the one in front with the HUGE smile. ;-)

I know how you feel notes and I thought I was the only one who cried when they lost their teeth. I just got partials but most of mine are gone. My front tooth got loose from gum disease so had no choice but to get it taken out, so had to get partials or would have been snagga tooth, lol. I only have 10 teeth though. Had to get most removed for heart surgery, two open heart surgeries. Yes, your teeth do affect your heart too if they are going bad. But that is not why I had to have surgery, but surgeon wanted all bad teeth removed before heart surgery. So I feel your sadness.

You are soooo right Notes!! I didnt have dental insurance for many years and let my teeth go a bit, now I have like 4 post and crowns. I wish I had all my own teeth back, its very upsetting. I always tell my kids to brush because theres nothing worse than the pain of a toothache, root canals, extractions and of course losing your teeth is emotionally painful!!

Really is sad that dental insurance is probably of the most lacking in coverage in many health plans... as well as the costs involved for service. It tends to keep many people from good dental health.:hit
