No one in this forum mentions the god awful shootings that took place yesterday??? Killing 20 kids, basically babies??

My heart goes out to these parents. I can't even begin to imagine their grief.

Unreal

It was the most horrible thing to happen in my lifetime and I have done nothing but cry for the past 24 hours. But I think a lot of us didnt want to bring up this AWFUL UNGODLY HORROR!! Believe me weesie not 1 of us here is not thinking about those precious children and the families suffering right now.

It is the saddest thing I have ever heard of and hard to even digest. I can't even watch the news anymore, it is just too awful.

I think almost everyone would like to try to focus on their kids and helping them cope with this, sorry Weesie but I just won't glorify that sick bastard by talking more about what he has done to destroy families I think the media is doing enough of that!

I would bet $100.00 that if any one other than me posted about this.................they would have gotten a different response from you, Vixen.

Really? I am not sure what your problem is because this is not about you or I! Your post came off as shock that none wanted to talk about this, my response was why people may not be talking about it,
I am sorry you seem to think everything I say is in a negative way towards you. Try to have a nice day Weesie

A similar thing happened in China yesterday. A guy burst into a school with a knife, slashed and stabbed 22 children and one adult. It's a crazy world.

TURN OFF THE NEWS.......

Morgan Freeman's brilliant take on what happened yesterday :

"You want to know why. This may sound cynical, but here's why.

It's because of the way the media reports it. Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris are household names, but do you know the name of a single *victim* of Columbine? Disturbed
people who would otherwise just off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he'll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody.

CNN's article says that if the body count "holds up", this will rank as the second deadliest shooting behind Virginia Tech, as if statistics somehow make one shooting worse than another. Then they post a video interview of third-graders for all the details of what they saw and heard while the shootings were happening. Fox News has plastered the killer's face on all their reports for hours. Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer's identity? None that I've seen yet. Because they don't sell. So congratulations, sensationalist media, you've just lit the fire for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity ward next.

You can help by forgetting you ever read this man's name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news."

I agree with that completely. When someone donates a kidney to save the life of somebody they don't even know we never hear about it, but let something horrible happen and we never hear the end of it.

Thanks Judy,I was just about to post the very same thing.
It is so very sad that the media has always gotten away with glorifying the bad guy instilling what they has done in the heads of others that may want to get there names written in history so sick.

God Bless the families and give them strength at there time of need.

I was reading through this and came across Vixen's explanation to Weesie about why someone didn't post about this sooner or at all. Then I read Weesie's response to Vixen about if it were anyone else...

First, don't let this tragedy tear our Streak family a part. Weesie, I concur with Vixen that everyone's in shock. I think, Weesie, you are sad and shocked by this too and probably read something into Vixen's reply that just wasn't there (through the pain you must be feeling you just thought it as a negative to you through your own sorrow, I know I've done this with my friends at times).

I know that if The Streak had any issues with any posts, they take care of them. That said, this post was kept up, including all responses back and forth, agreeable or not in a few. That is a sign of respect from The Streak that I appreciate.

But, I'm sad to see friends and misunderstandings at any time when we should be coming together. I hope we are all friends here, hope we all know this tragedy should bring us closer and not let the evil of it divide us. Peace be with everyone here. And, Weesie, thank you for posting first, Vixen thanks for your understanding and honesty that we all do feel on this topic and everyone else who read and post or not their own thoughts.

Be well all my Streak friends, stay well.

I have found it so hard to wrap my head around this... I truely do not understand. I am so saddened by this. I immediatly called my childrens schools to make sure their doors were locked. I cried for the children for their parents and for our Nation. I cannot watch the news, I cannot read yahoo news, and now today they are posting pictures of the children, and the crying started again. Their innocense posted for the world to see. The world feels this pain... saddened in NY. no more to say

They have started to release the pictures of the children, almost all of them 6 or 7. So beautiful, so innocent. This is just unimaginable what has been done to them. They said some of them were shot up to 11 times, I just dont understand that magnitude of the mental disease a person must have to do such a thing!
