Do people still make New Years Resolutions? Or do you think that is a thing of the past? Do you make them? Do you tend to keep them if you do? :think

There was something on tv about New Year's resolutions yesterday, and the percentage of people that fail in the first week, it was huge, like 70%! I never really worry about them, but I do have one plan up my sleeve atm. I am going to try and give up smoking so will make a start next week, I just wanted to get over Christmas and the New Year.

Good luck Sorc. You should try one of those new "electronic" cigarettes. I want to get that for my brother!

sorcer3ss you should get an electronic cig! that's how me and my husband quit smoking 3 years ago. it helped my stepdad quit too. i tried to get my mom to use it but she's one of those people that WANT to die with a cig in their hand, lol she is stubborn

Oh Ash I am a bit like that, I really hate the thought of giving up one of my pleasures, but I know I just have to, it's got to the ridiculous state with my health. I have seen those electronic cigarettes on the net but don't know anything about them. I have the nicotine patches already and just went to see my doctor and I asked him about some new spray someone told me about, so he rang the pharmacist to check about it, and it can be used in conjunction with the patches, you just spray it when you have a craving, so I went and got that. Now I have to find a substitute, I have to be careful with food cos of my diabetes, so have to find something that I can nibble on that wont do too much damage.

Dani I gave up for 5 years one time, and restarted.

Carrot and celery sticks, gum and sugar free hard candies. If I had asthma as bad as you sorcer3ss, it would be the number one thing on my mind (quitting, that is) also, you are only fooling yourself saying it is your one pleasure, smoking is NOT a pleasure it is an addiction. A smelly, expensive, deadly addiction. Most of us ex smokers said the same thing you did. :think
