State legislators met to discuss tax reform laws.
Nebraska Senator Eliot Bostar has introduced a bill that would “allow an authorized gaming operator to conduct sports wagering
by means of an online sports wagering platform under the Nebraska Racetrack Gaming Act.”
The bill would also “change the distribution of taxes collected from sports wagering and change requirements relating to proposals
for constitutional amendments submitted by the Legislature.”
Bostar pitched the bill during the first special session of the 108th Nebraska Legislature, which began yesterday.
State Governor Jim Pillen called the session to discuss laws regarding tax reform.
More than 35 states have established legal and regulated Sports Betting markets since the US Supreme Court overturned
the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 (PASPA) in May 2018, also known as the Bradley Act.
Nebraska first welcomed its state lottery in 1993.
The state recently partnered with Lotto America to bring in its Monday, Wednesday and Saturday drawings.
Players can try out the $1 game for an opportunity to take home a $2m jackpot. The pot will continue to grow until someone wins.
Proceeds from the lottery sales will go to aid various events and causes around the state, including the Nebraska State Fair,
program gamblers assistance, the environment and education.
Lotto America is a multi-state Lotto game that is available through 13 lotteries around the country.
It is currently available through the Delaware Lottery, Idaho Lottery, Iowa Lottery, Kansas Lottery, Maine Lottery, Minnesota Lottery, Montana Lottery, New Mexico Lottery, North Dakota Lottery, Oklahoma Lottery, South Dakota Lottery, Tennessee Lottery and the West Virginia Lottery.
