After a hard push in North Carolina to legalise Sports Betting, the segment’s regulation is still in the House of Representatives, which hasn’t advanced since April.
US.- The Sports Betting segment continues to take over the US, but North Carolina is stalling. The Sports Betting bill that would have legalised the segment is still at the House of Representatives.
The state expected North Carolina tribes to operate the Sports Betting segment by the football season. That’s why SB154 sailed through the Senate and passed with a 43-7 vote. However, the House has yet to act on the measure.
The bill wound up in the committee on rules, calendar and operations. However, it took no action between April 11 and June 26 to advanced with the push for Sports Betting.
The legislative piece would allow pro and college Sports Betting, as well as off-track betting. Senator Davis, sponsor of the bill, said it could bring US$14 million in additional annual tribal revenue and US$1 million for state coffers.
Furthermore, Eastern Band Principal Chief Richard Sneed revealed in an interview earlier this year that Sports Betting would allow the tribe to expand its options and provide new amenities to patrons.
