News in brief: Massachusetts House approves poker clause
Massachusetts lawmakers will now seriously consider introducing intrastate poker legislation, after the Massachusetts House last Wednesday approved the inclusion of Representative Dan Winslow's amendment in an expanded gambling bill. Winslow's proposal would require a state gambling commission to produce regulations by 31 July 2012 for the issue of five online poker licences. Winslow said the proposal would create high tech jobs and generate additional revenue for the state. To pass into law, the proposal must still pass the Senate and a possible conference committee. State Governor Deval Patrick also retains the power of veto over any potential legislation.
Intralot’s Italian subsidiary Intralot Italia has launched a new browser-based mobile service available on all smartphones and tablet devices. Intralot mobile will see the Greek lottery provider look to take advantage of Italy’s mobile penetration - the highest in Europe at 151% in 2010 according to the H2 mobile gambling report.
