Over the past decade, Las Vegas gaming companies have focused more of their efforts to the Asian gambling market. Their vision is being justified by the monthly revenue figures that are coming out of Macau and its casinos.
In October, Macau casinos had yet another record setting month in terms of gaming revenue. Revenue from October at the Macau casinos was $2.36 billion. That figure represented a fifty percent increase over the same period from the previous year.
Late last year, the Chinese government was concerned about the amount of money that was leaving the mainland and going to Macau. The government placed visa restrictions on its residents, and at that time it was thought that Macau would see revenue declines from the restrictions.
Shortly after they were put in place, the visa restrictions were lightened. Since that time, Macau has been watching their gaming revenue climb on a monthly basis. The growth became so severe earlier this year that the current casino owners and the government decided to put a freeze on any new projects that were not in the works. The concern was that Macau was developing too quickly.
