You are not going to believe this story, but here it is. Back in 1986, I was the editor of a college literary magazine called Seascape (Ocean County College, Toms River, NJ). I actually got involved in this due to my love of writing and also because at that time, the college admin was thinking of shutting this entity down due to mismanagement from previous years. Anyway, I love the issues I published with my staff while attending college there, but here's the kicker...
While surfing the net I came across information about Bruce Springsteen in the late 1960s. He attended Ocean County College for two semesters, which I never knew. And, an early band of his (Earth) played at our Student Union building. But even more shocking, Bruce's FIRST published writings (from what I found out) were two poems published in the January 1969 issue of Seascape (our college's literary mag). And, this issue of Seascape is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Why didn't I ever know this while editor of this mag or while attending school two decades later? Well, all I can say is, it's a small, small world, isn't it?
