Iowa Senate subcommittee passed the online poker bill 1068 on Thursday, allowing for casinos based in the state to operate and offer online poker to its residents.
Bill 1068 now makes its way to the Iowa Senate State Government Committee which is widely believed to rubber stamp the bill, then pass it onwards to full Senate which is controlled by the Democrat party.

Author of the bill State Senator Jeff Danielson said: “This is a bill that sets up a consumer-protection framework” in which regulation would be overseen by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.”
“It could be an emerging trend, just as drugs could be an emerging trend,” but that doesn’t mean lawmakers should support it, Feenstra said.

“This goes down the path of allowing a lot more societal problems to occur,” Feenstra added. “It should not be in the government’s arena to further the degradation of society.”
