I was just at this site reading and read this column again, and again, I cried. I would love to have a dog! David says no.... the old grump!

I was 35 before I got my first dog - I had always been afraid of them. That year we got our first yellow lab puppy.... my faithful companion for 8 short years.... (and on what had been till last year my worst holiday ever, he died at 2am Christmas Morning... I had bought my 4 year old daughter a dollhouse complete with dog door... she opened it and said let's get him... and I had to tell her he was in heaven ....) Sorry can't talk about him this time of year without remembering....

Anyway I made it exactly two weeks till I adopted another lab, this lovely lady was an adult and was truly a mind saver for me... I loved her and she loved me, and I know she helped me save my sanity!

We're on our third lab now, a lovely girl who we adopted at 5 months of age. We were "dogless" exactly 4 days... and I've always thought the first two arranged for her for me I would never have been on petfinder otherwise, crying as I surfed... and there she was, perfect for our family....
