Ohhhhhhhhhh festivities are in the air!!!! I just love the winter holidays!!!!

Got me thinking about holiday traditions and was wondering if any of you have any traditions that you'd like to share with us!

As for me >>>> I'm Polish and we have a few Polish traditions that we still hold true to at Christmas.

* We have the Polish fasting meal on Christmas Eve, Pastedka.
* We always place a piece of straw from a manger under the tablecloth that evening to assure that we'll not be without food for the coming year.
* We always set an extra place setting for any unexpected guest (and the children's imaginary friends, too!)
* We have a birthday cake for Jesus and all sing Happy Birthday to Him.
* We also have a seperate tree with the names of those who have been lifted up to Heaven on it to "have them with us at the meal" in a spiritual sense.

And, on Christmas morning it's an absolute must to dring orange juice before opening the presents! (at least the children have "something" in their stomachs 'cuz Lord knows they're too excited to eat breakfast first!!!)

Enjoy the holidays, everyone! :msc

Those are some wonderful traditions Spin. I love the straw under the tablecloth, but the tree with all the names sounds the best to me! :hang

I'm not a happy person in late December; because I get to missing my Dad who passed away on Dec 19th. My tradition for the past 10 years or so was to go to Atlantic City, rent a nice hotel suite and just have some fun and try to cheer myself up. Room service, a dip in the Olympic size pool, a spa treatment and some new slots usually do the trick.

Unfortunately, my health will prevent me from going this year; so I will probably play on line instead. All I need is the pool, some seriously good take-out and a "golden handed" man...

More than likely, it will turn out to be a shower, a quick sandwich while I spin the slots and I'll just have to dream about the Massage! Hehehee!

For you, Carey

I too lost my brother 3 years ago (blood clot went to his heart) on December 10th. The only consolation I have of his presence around Christmas is that his sons are here with me Christmas Eve. It's such a blessing.

That used to be my favorite part of Christmas, Spin. Having all my nephews around and seeing their little faces light up! They've all grown up now...we're in that weird place where the nephews are too grown to amaze, and they don't yet have their own kids for me to spoil.

I wish to god I had that!! It would mean so much to my family but unfortunately my brother passed before he could have any children.....:sadaww

My infant son died in Dec almost 22 years ago and it's still painful, so I can imagine what those of you who lost someone just recently feel

My heart and prayers go out to anyone who has lost a loved one around a holiday..

Why does it always seem to happen then??

Easter, Fathers Day Mothers Day Thanksgiving and Christmas seems to be when loved ones pass away..
