First female Prime Minister for Australia

Kevin Rudd has stood down after a leadership battle this morning and we have now our first female Prime Minister.

I'm a bit stunned actually, I didn't realise they could have a leadership challenge in the middle of the Prime Minister's term for starters and a can't say that I am terribly happy at them pushing out Kevin Rudd like that, but it will be nice to have a female PM.

Well, I sure hope it all goes well for you all. I wonder is it like when they impeach our Presidents?

I wouldn't think so, we had a government sacked once by the Governor General - Kevin Rudd just stood down, I haven't heard his speech yet will try and catch it tonight on the news.

I agree - am not so politically engaged, but after Germany (and previously England) it's about time that female PM's come to power in the Western world (in fact, in the entire universe I hope)!
