When you have a minute, check this vid. out! It's from Crowded House's "Farewell To The World" show that was taped at the Sydney opera House. The show was about 10 yrs. ago..

BLOWS ME AWAY- IMO, one of THE most beautiful songs EVER written!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siOKxJhC_J8

And the lyrics---

Can you imagine that
an itch too sensitive to scratch
the light that falls through the cracks
an insect too delicate to catch
I hear the endless murmur
every blade of grass that shivers in the breeze
and the sound that comes to carry me
across the land and over the sea
And I can't look up
fingers of love move down
and I can't look back
fingers of love move down
Colour is its own reward
colour is its own reward
the chiming of a perfect chord
let's go jumping overboard
into waves of joy and clarity
your hands come out to rescue me
and I'm playing in the shallow water
laughing while the mad dog sleeps
And I can't look up
fingers of love move down
and I won't be hit
fingers of love move everywhere
there is time yet
fall by the way
from the cradle to the grave
from a palace to the gutter
beneath the dying waves of the sun
lie fingers of love
through waves of joy and clarity
a fallen angel walked on the sea
and I'm playing in the shallow water
laughing while the mad dog sleeps
And I can't look up
fingers of love move down
and I won't be hit
fingers of love move everywhere
there is time yet
for you to find me
and all I want
fingers of love move down

Let me know if this gives you chills, or whatever!

Love and Light-Liz

I love it, but I may be baised,LOL.
I still miss Paul though. It was such a loss. It is hard to believe it has been 3 years now.

Music is like oxygen to me. Seriously.... carnival

And I search and try and kick it back, ya might not like it or you maybe impressed. RADIO SUCKS!!! It wasn't like that growing up, but it's just been killed.

Speaking about different genres....have you ever heard about Jaques Brel?

Here´s my favourite chanson...and one of my favourite songs at all. This will be played at my funeral...lol.

For those who do not speak french..here´s the translation of the lyrics..taken fom David Bowies version of this song:

In the port of Amsterdam
There's a sailor who sings
Of the dreams that he brings
From the wide open sea
In the port of Amsterdam
There's a sailor who sleeps
While the riverbank weeps
With the old willow tree
In the port of Amsterdam
There's a sailor who dies
Full of beer, full of cries
In a drunken down fight
And in the port of Amsterdam
There's a sailor who's born
On a muggy hot morn
By the dawn's early light
In the port of Amsterdam
Where the sailors all meet
There's a sailor who eats
Only fishheads and tails
He will show you his teeth
That have rotted too soon
That can swallow the moon
That can haul up the sails
And he yells to the cook
With his arms open wide
Bring me more fish
Put it down by my side
Then he wants so to belch
But he's too full to try
So he gets up and laughs
And he zips up his fly
In the port of Amsterdam
You can see sailors dance
Paunches bursting their pants
Grinding women to paunch
They've forgotten the tune
That their whiskey voice croaks
Splitting the night with the
Roar of their jokes
And they turn and they dance
And they laugh and they lust
Till the rancid sound of
The accordion bursts
Then out to the night
With their pride in their pants
With the slut that they tow
Underneath the street lamps
In the port of Amsterdam
There's a sailor who drinks
And he drinks and he drinks
And he drinks once again
He drinks to the health
Of the whores of Amsterdam
Who have promised their love
To a thousand other men
They've bargained their bodies
And their virtue long gone
For a few dirty coins
And when he can't go on
He plants his nose in the sky
And he wipes it up above
And he pisses like I cry
For an unfaithful love
In the port of Amsterdam
In the port of Amsterdam

Hey Now Seaman!

I know this song!! Not the original, but David Bowie covered it, before he 'broke' in the U.S. I have it on a bootleg vynal, that I picked up in Australia. The recording sucks, but if I have the money- I'll buy any Bowie rareity.
Thanks for posting the lyrics, and I'll have a listen to the original!

Crowded House disbanded almost a couple decades ago, man time flys. Neil Finn and his brother Tim got together and released a C.D.- FINN BROTHERS thats full of beautiful songs. And Neil Finn solo- ONE ALL is a great C.D. almost every song on it!!!

Now when your in the mood to search for stuff you may not know, this is a taste of what I listen to these days. The SADDEST part is most people don't EVER HEAR THEM and they work thier ass's off! I'm grateful, but would LOVE to see REAL musician, singer/songwriters get thier due!!

Here we go....

JOHN DOE. like Townes, John's solo stuff is Americana or roots music! He also fronts L.A.'s punk band (my favorite band) been together 31 years! And they rock.

THE KNITTERS. This is X'x alt. country ego. And they rock! Dave Alvin joins them on electric guitar and Johnny Ray Bartell on Stand up Bass.

THE OLD 97'S. nuff said!

KATHLEEN EDWARDS. Her song IN STATE... must have been written for a bad boy X... "My face, couldn't make you leave it behind, maybe 20 yrs. in state will change your mind"

DEAD ROCK WEST. Seen them live a few times. And a couple of the guys gig with John Doe when he plays 'solo'. Cindy Wasserman is the lead singer- and the nicest woman you'll ever meet. And it finally clicked.. Her older Bro. used to play with GARCIA!! We had a good laugh. I told her I was an old Dead Head, but didn't put the two together, just loved her voice and her band!

JERRY GARCIA. PURE BEAUTY! Especially these two C.D's (Jerry in his prime-mid 70's) THE JERRY GARCIA BAND- DON'T LET GO and THE VERY BEST OF JERRY GARCIA .. Awesome 2 C.D. set!!

Ok, time for coffee! Cause I could go on and on! lol!

Cheers!

Thanks for sharing Liz, I for sure will check them out all. Beside Jerry Garcia..I´ve never heard of any of them here in Germany.

It´s always great to find those rare diamonds. My kids always laugh at me when I found some new tunes and am excited like an 6yrs old at christmas...lol.

Hopefully they will understand sometimes what music means to me.
