[h=6]So we go up to the hospital ready for another day of the same. We walk into his room and I hear hello. I go around and he is asking why we are wearing the gown and gloves and he wants a drink. I start asking him if he knows who I am and he tells me your name used to be Michelle. So I tell him it still is. He goes on to tell me he is in a helicoptor and I am telling him he is in the hospital. By now he is acting like he hates me. Thank God I really know I am the love of his life but it is starting to make me cry. I start showing him my ring and then his on my necklace and we keep on talking to him. He has us try to help him sit up and all of a sudden he starts remembering and asking questions. He pulls me down and gives me a kiss and says he is an *******. I tell him no he isn't. All of it started coming back to him and by now I am crying again but happy tears. He was asking Nikki to help him lift his arm. He is so weak but really seems to be on the mend. By the time we were getting ready to leave he is telling the girls to take care of your mom. That is the normal Phil. He always tells them that when he is in the hospital. I am forever grateful to you all for the prayers. I was so worried about brain damage after how long he was without oxygen but the more we talked to more he remembered. It was amazing to start that visit out so rough and have it end so happy.[/h]

I was trying to summon up the energy to post and could hardly do it. It was so great but so exhausting. I was just realizing I have been going up to the hospital a minimum of two times a day if not more for 60 days now. I was so used to always staying home so it has taken a real toll on me. The first thing I do when something goes wrong is to post and ask for prayers so I said I need to get here and tell the good news. I know we still have a long way to go but just knowing he knew us was such a great feeling. He has been off the ventilator for two full days now so he was making progress. They have tried to do a swallow test twice now and he failed but when they do it Monday I think he will pass.

I love you all!

That is such great news missmichelle, it's been such a stressful time for you and the girls, and I am just happy that all of us at streak gaming have been able to help in a small way by our prayers and having someone to talk to. As Judy said it is going to be a long slow recovery so do try and pace yourself as much as you can.

That's great to hear Michelle, was praying he would be okay. I was in a coma for two weeks after my open heart surgery and it took me a while after I woke up to be able to talk, words would not come out and then I had to learn to walk again. So it is just a great trauma to the body when we have to go through a big surgery like that, takes awhile to get everything back in order. I am on wafarin for the rest of my life and my INR level is still all out of wack. So it is all expected after a trauma to the body like that. So glad he is okay!

I will be adding you to our prayers. I know how rough it all is. Phil hates the warfarin, he says it makes his head feel like mush.

:)HG:)HGWoo Hoo! He passed the swallow test today. He is only allowed to have ice chips and water but he snuck in some pepsi and mt dew. They tried to give him a chocolate pudding and he ate most of it but couldn't finish it, he got way too full. He loved the pepsi. They even figured out that I gave him a little. They didn't seem to mind, since they felt so bad for him. He had them call me at 4:45 this morning and I freaked when the call came in. I was shaking and I asked right away if he was okay and she told me yes. So we have been up there alot today and I am going to try to grab two hours of rest and then go back.

Miss michelle, it is time for you to start getting some rest honey you can't keep burning the candle at both ends, slow down or you will be in the hospital and that would make me really sad..

Michelle be really careful with the fluids if he is on a fluid diet, that will put the fluid back on him and it will might have to be drained again. That is what happened to me.

I will be careful. I have to keep taking drinks away from him because he gets so carried away. Hopefully he will get some strength back so he can move some and that will help.

Yes, I know he can get thirsty, but it is absolutely no fun to get that fluid drained. I hated it, cried every time, lol. It takes a little time after heart surgery for fluid and stuff to get right with your body. I had to have it drained after I got out of the hospital also, but just one time and it was a horrible experience.
