Father-in-Law Passed Away

I'm sorry I've been away for a while, but I've been dealing with some family matters. Those of you who know me a bit better may remember all my dealings with my in-laws, moving them from TN to ID and the stress afterwards dealing with their "high maintenance" and attitude, etc. Well, that all said, they are still family and I have to tell everyone that my father-in-law passed away last Friday. My husband was holding his hand when he passed as well as my daughter. His services will be on Thursday. It's been rough going for everyone, but now he's at peace and (though I maybe shouldn't say this) it is also a relief on our family. Once he's put to rest, we can remember the "good in the man" and go on with living life the way we should.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Gees families can be difficult at times, but all you can do is your best, and it sounds like you did that. I always feel there is nothing worse than having regrets about what you should have done/said, and it sounds like you and your family wont, so that is a positive. Remember the good things about your father-in-law now.

Thanks, everyone. I will let you know that I personally did his write up for the obituary which should be online today and prepared an old photo of him (one in which he is smiling) for it as well. I tried to include the things he was most passionate about in his obituary to honor him (being part of the 84th Inf. - Railsplitters in WWII as a combat medic and also his love of his political newsletter The Advocator). That's my gift to him.
