(Reuters) - The Dutch government said on Saturday it wanted to grant licenses for Internet gambling services in the Netherlands and lift restrictions that hundreds of thousands of Dutch ignore every year.
The proposal, by a new coalition government that took over last October, represents a major policy overhaul for the Netherlands, which has defended an online gambling ban all the way to the European Union's highest court.

Happy??

Have you noticed what this legalising did for the French players??
French players are banned from almost every reputable casino I can think of.
Including my beloved 32RED!

Problem is that EU laws will apply.
So every online casino based within the EU (Malta, Cyprus, Gibraltar, UK)
will have the choice of either pull the plug on Dutch players or obtain a very expensive licence.
Otherwise they will get sued by the Dutch government.

No, as long as the government does not come up with all kinds of draconian rules like in the US, I think we're much better off illegal.

The only reason they want to legalise is because they want control, read, that we pay taxes on our winnings.
And the casinos have to pay big money for a licence.
How many do you think are willing to do that for the small Dutch market?

So I personally dont think its a good thing, but we'll see what we will see.
It wont be this year, so for now there's not much to worrie about.

It's all about the money. If politicians got a personal cut from it, it would be legalized tomorrow
