"A Taiwanese woman fell from a pier and plunged into the sea, while she was checking Facebook on her phone.

The woman, who hasn't been named, was walking on a pier in Melbourne, Australia, Monday night, when she she took one step too many and fell in the water. Distracted by Facebook, she didn't realize the pier was coming to an end, according to local police.

"I was checking my Facebook page on the phone and I've fallen in," she said, according to a policeman quoted by the Australian Broadcasting Corp.

As she was floating in the water, more than 60 feet from the pier, unable to swim, the woman was still holding on to her phone. She "kept hold of her mobile phone throughout the entire ordeal," local police wrote in a statement.

The woman, spotted by a witness, was rescued 20 minutes after falling, and was then taken to the hospital.

She is lucky to be alive, the police wrote."

Idiot phone zombie! No doubt she is very lucky. It is too funny. Anyhow, cellphones should have a caution label on them. "Caution! Things to drop into/over are more obvious if you actually pay interest to your environment. So, pay attention dummy!"

I think cell phones can be distracting, but just like everything
in our lives, they need to be used with common sense, lol
