The Obama administration may have bought the cooperation of a lot of big businesses, but apparently Obama never got Steve Wynn on his side. The CEO of the Wynn Resorts casino empire is never shy about his opinions and doesn’t mind raising eyebrows during his speeches. During a recent conference call with investors, Wynn gave his opinion on how the Obama administration affects the casino industry and businesses in general.
Wynn thinks that things will improve in Las Vegas. He even says that the best days of the Vegas casino industry are still ahead. Despite that optimism, though, he says that things will not improve as long as Obama is in the White House. If you think that is a partisan attack, remember that Wynn identifies himself as a Democrat and is a strong supporter of liberal Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
According to Wynn, he’s optimistic about the future but as long as Obama is president he “is afraid to do anything” because “this administration is the greatest wet blanket to business and progress and job creation in my lifetime.” Wynn says that businessmen are afraid to invest, expand or hire because of all of the new regulations, rising healthcare costs and more. Another problem, according to Wynn, is that Obama “keeps using that word redistribution.” There is simply no incentive to grow your business if it just means that extra money is going to go to the government.
According to Wynn, businessmen inside and outside the Vegas casino industry are doing nothing, for fear of any new changes that the president will bring. “Those of us who have business opportunities and the capital to do it are going to sit in fear of the president.”
