Just wondering if anyone else still smokes. My girlfriend just gave me one of those fake ciggarettes. Not sure what I think of it. Oh well it's better than nothing. I ran out of tobbaco to roll. I keep u all posted on how long it lasts. Maybe i'll even quit smoking. Freerollbird

Yeah me too, is that one of those electronic cigarettes or one of those inhaler type ones? Good luck with it.

Ex-smoker here so I know how hard to quit is. I quit 9 years ago on my birthday. I had just found out I was diabetic, my mom died from lung cancer in 1999, cigarettes were expensive even back then and I was so ready to quit. When I quit I had my husband, two of my grown sons and a daughter in law living with me and they all smoked, and they all smoked inside (not like these days) But I still did it, lol hmmr

I wish we could quit. Phil and I both smoke and we were ordering our cigs online. When they just passed that law that they can't be bought online they switched to selling the little cigars. So now we smoke them and buy a pack occasionally to break it up. I have smoked since I was twelve. Now I am 43 and really feeling the effects of it. Yuck!

Hi,

I hope all of you that wish to quit success!!

I, on the other hand, am a die hard smoker. Have no intentions of quitting.

I know, I know, I have read/heard all the facts.

I have quit 3 times over the last 30 years...... once for 6 months, once for 1 1/2 years and once for 2 years.

There were times I was smoking 3 packs a day. That was in 97' I think. Now, I am at less than a pack a day and have been at that level for about 2 years.

I don't smoke around non-smokers in public. I don't smoke in the house. And, I don't smoke in cars, ours or anyone elses.

So, I try not to be a bother!!

anyway..... that's my story and I am sticking to it!!!

yup, I know what quitting takes. I quit between smokes.
Also tried one of those eCigarette things but ended up buying a pack anyway, so quite useless. Recently read a book on this - forget the name of the book - but they suggested messing with your routine a bit, instead of having a smoke after you eat (usually the hardest time to resist) read the paper or something like that, something that will keep the hands busy. So far, im from a pack a day down to 4 or 5 so some merit in that

I'm also a smoker, and sitting in front of the computer, i tend to smoke twice as much. I am thinking about giving quitting another try real soon, tired of hacking up tar sometimes in the morning, can barely play the Xbox Connects with the kids, and tired of some addictions controlling my life. Sometimes, its just time for a change. Good luck to everyone that makes an effort to quit!

Changing up your routine is a great idea pokerpete. It helped me quit. Eishagirl, try making it a rule to now smoke at the computer (not good for the computer either) or maybe make it so you have to go outside to smoke (better for the whole family) that would cut down a lot on the cigs.

I smoke, especially when I play.
Whenever I trigger freespins, I HAVE to roll me a ciggie!

So when I'm losing I smoke 2 packages, but when I'm winning I smoke 2 lighters a day!

I should quit, I know.
Next year, ok?

You never told me that!
Something else we have in common lol

I also have to quit. I have Asthma and it's killing me slowly anyway. I had to give up my singingcareer because I refuse to quit. And I do smell awful, that's the worst part:think

It probably won't happen today but I'm getting closer and closer, and I will do it, I have to, I must....

You don't know half yet.

I had to give up my singing career too.
But that was because my neighbours thought I was torturing my cat with a chainsaw.
:think Neighbours: hmmr

I stopped smoking in the house about 4 yrs ago, that
really helps cut down. I it hard at first, but you will get use
to not smoking in the house and it will cut your smoking in
half!

I have no proof, but it seems to me I have heard a lot in the past that smoking around your computer was not good for the computer (noooo, not because of the second hand smoke risks, lol) I believe it is all the smoke and stuff getting into the insides of the computer and causing issues.

Its partly true, it won't cause major issues with your hardware, but it will destroy the cooling/fans, they will gather loads of sticky dust and stop cooling after a while.
Its best to clean the cooling parts at least once a year when you smoke alot.

I 'quit' recently. I say quit I smoke with a drink when I'm at the pub, but that doesn't count.

Get yourself a proper electric cigarette (definitely not one of those that actually look like cigarettes - they're rubbish). A big chunky one like the Screwdriver mk2 or a Titan (look them up online or PM me for the best place to get them).
Then get yourself a copy of Allen Carr - The easy way to quit smoking. (Loads of ebook versions available online).

Now read the Allen Carr book but wherever he mentions 'nicotine' just think 'real cigarette' rather than the liquid nicotine you get with an electrocigarette.

It's quite patronisingly simple psychology in the book but that's what makes it work and coupled with the fake cigarette it really does help you quit.
Good luck!
