been one awful week... we had a terrible terrible storm Monday night, 75 mph winds... blew the patio cover off the patio, over the garage, it flew over the full length of the pickup truck, ACROSS THE STREET and landed in the neighbors front yard. Of course it was dark while it was going on, so we could hear terrible noises but couldn't see what was going on... then now power - we're lucky ours was on in 4 hours, others still have none!

My poor mom has been without electric for two days! It's pushing 90 here and humid! We're keeping her cool any way we can. My brother has a huge generator, and the cords to run the central air off it, but guess what? IT WON"T START! Talk about frustrated! We finally had to hospitalize her today, the heat was just too hard on her... she'll be fine hopefully in a day or two! Please say a prayer for her if you can.

Anyway we're fully insured, but what a mess! I can't believe the entire patio top and support legs, huge wood beams, traveled so far, so high in the air and didn't take out the power lines! I've never seen so many trees blown down, houses and cars smashed by trees. Through It all I've seen so many generous acts from the neighbors in my town working together, sharing, helping each other.... truly a blessing after the storm.

Oh no! I am sorry to hear about your mom hon. I hope she is doing ok. I myself went and bought a window air conditioner yesterday. I can not handle the heat at all anymore.

Wow, I am so glad you are all okay! I will be sending good thoughts and prayer your mom's way. That is probably the best place for her to be at this time. At least you know she is safe. How scary!

So smart Judy, you'll love it! Just run it on low once the humidity is removed, and you'll be so comfortable!

We've had AC in our homes since 1962. My dad was a mail carrier and had to have a cool home to come home to... we kids were upstairs, and we'd cart our matresses to the living room on very hot nights so we could sleep. It was great fun lol, and so easy to sleep!

That sounds so scary. I hope your mum is okay now. Reminds me of the terrible storms that happened in Brisbane when cyclone Yasi hit. My friend was terrified and so scared, it was a ferocious storm. All the best for your recovery efforts, glad to hear you have nice neighbours who help each other :)

Glad to hear you are ok and wish you the best with your momma. We once had some strong wind gusts last year, heard some noises through the night, came out the next morning, and the wind had picked up the kids trampoline and perfectly sat it on top of our house, lol it was amazing to see something like that, with just 40-50mph wind gusts.

Anyways, hope everything gets back to normal for ya soon! :)HG

Glad to hear you guys are safe from the storm. And hopefully Grandma is all better by now. You must've been through the same storm system we were in. We lost 100's of trees in our neighborhood. Two blocks away an 8-plex condo had the roof blown away. The other side of the freeway in this city got it worse over by the hospital. Large trees lifted fences high up in the air and knocked down power lines. Some of the town lost electricity here in Cambridge Minnesota. Hailed here also. Take care. Mother Nature is pretty strong. Would be nice to harness her power.

Thanks all! Mom's getting stronger in the hospital, with fluids and electric comforts, talk of bringing her home Friday!

Amazing indeed the strenght of Mother Nature, Thank heavens it wasn't much worse! Eberetta I'm sure it was part of the same storm system, although I'm in Ohio...

eishagirl, that must have been a real shock to see! I couldn't believe the patio could fly so far! Carey, you're so right!

Thanks everyone for the prayers and good wishes! We're all doing fine!
