The partnership with Gamesys Limited links Tropicana with one of Europe’s leading online gambling companies.
Gamesys is behind the Jackpotjoy website and offers Internet gambling in the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy and Sweden, the company said.
Gamesys’ venture into the United States puts it in position to tap an emerging Internet gambling market that analysts believe could eventually grow into a multibillion-dollar enterprise.
In New Jersey alone, estimates range from $200 million to $1.2 billion in annual Internet gambling revenue.
Atlantic City casinos have been lining up their Web partners in advance of the scheduled Nov. 26 launch of Internet gambling in New Jersey.
Tropicana is the latest casino to announce its partner, although the media and Wall Street analysts have been reporting the Gamesys deal for weeks.
“We have always sought ambitious partners and Tropicana Atlantic City is a great partner for Gamesys as Internet gaming comes to New Jersey,” said Noel Hayden, founder and chief executive officer of Gamesys.
