Unknown online poker player Ryan ‘g0lfa’ D’Angelo has made history this week by becoming only the third player to ever win multiple bracelets in the eight-year history of the World Championships Of online poker (WCOOP).

A Canadian player using the pseudonym ‘spawng’ became the first to accomplish the task after winning a bracelet in both 2005 and 2006. That same year, Kyle ‘kwob20’ Bowker took home two bracelets to become the first player ever to win multiple events in the same series.

This feat has now been equalled after D’Angelo won WCOOP Event 18, a mixed hold’em tournament, for $50,250 on September 9 before following this up five days later by triumphing at Event 29 for $69,245. Both events featured buy-ins of $320 and the American now has lifetime winnings of over $730,000, which includes a third-place finish at the 2008 World Series Of Poker in Event 48.

With his two victories, D’Angelo is sitting at the top of the WCOOP Player Of The Series leaderboard, which is awarding a 2010 PokerStars.com Caribbean Adventure package alongside a trophy.

The WCOOP has been one of the richest online tournament series since it was first held in 2002 and this year’s edition is to feature a $530 buy-in heads-up pot-limit OMAHA contest with $250,000 guaranteed on September 19.

The PokerStars.com-sponsored WCOOP will conclude with the $5,200 buy-in two-day main event on September 20 from half-past four in the afternoon and full details can be found at PokerStars.com/WCOOP.
